The 36th Annual Nutcracker

Join the Puppet Co. for our 36th annual The Nutcracker! This time-honored seasonal celebration includes Tchaikovsky's familiar story of Clara and her prince, with some Puppet Co. nursery rhyme spin.

Originated by the founding team of Allan Stevens, Christopher Piper, and MayField Piper and the music of the Arlington Symphony Orchestra.

A German fairy tale of two kids who get lost in the woods and encounter a witch. Adapted by Len, Patricia, and Christopher Piper, this version of Hansel and Gretel is over 50 years old. Performed using marionettes, this musical tale is sure to charm you and your little ones. Recommended for ages 4+. Run time approximately 45 minutes.

Magic Mirror is back after its special 40th Anniversary run and Broadway World nomination in 2023! This production was the first show founders Christopher Piper and Allan Stevens worked on as the Puppet Co. Meet Toad, a young person destined for greatness in this mash-up story with many familiar fairy tales! Join us on this journey of dragons, monsters, and spirits of the woods. Recommended for ages 5+. Alice in Wonderland

This brand new adaptation based on the beloved children’s novel by Lewis Carroll will take the audience on a delightful journey into wonderland using rod puppets. This one-of-a-kind performance blends music and humor to create a new version of a familiar story. Recommended for ages 4+. Run time approximately 50 minutes.

Celebrate 50 years of Allan Stevens’ Pinocchio! A young puppet goes on a journey to become a real boy. First seen on stage at the Smithsonian Puppet Theater, we are delighted to bring the original rod-puppets back to the stage to tell Carlo Collodi’s tale. Recommended for ages 4+. Run time approximately 50 minutes.

This award-winning musical production uses the original Denslow design from the books. Using several styles of puppetry, we tell the great American fairy tale written by L. Frank Baum. The story takes place at the 1900s Kansas State Fair, with performers in costumes, guiding the audience down the yellow brick road. Recommended for 4+ Run time of approximately 60 minutes.

DinoRock Productions: Dinosaur Babies

DinoRock returns to the Puppet Co. with the production they first graced our stage with in 1998! A national leader in children’s entertainment for nearly 40 years, DinoRock has performed for millions of children nationwide and has sold over 100,000 award-winning original audio recordings around the world. A generation has grown up singing along with their life-sized, colorful prehistoric friends, the creations of Emmy Award-Winning puppet designer Ingrid Crepeau and Parents’ Choice Magazine and American Library Association Award Winner Michele Valeri. Recommended ages 3+. Run time approximately 50 minutes. 

 

Jennie the Cat: A Halloween Adventure

the Puppet Co. favorites Ingrid and Mollie are bringing a charming and educational adventure to the main stage for Halloween! Come meet Jennie the Cat! 

When Jennie receives a Halloween card that calls her a scary cat, she feels like she’s been put in a box. Does she have to be scary? Join Jennie as she meets new friends with some spectacular tricks and treats to share, like skateboarding, shadow puppetry, and pumpkin carving. 

Who will Jennie choose to be? 

This show features cuddly puppets, audience interaction, and all original music.
