The Puppet Experts

The Puppet Co.’s Expertise

The Puppet Co. has used Marionette, Hand/Gove puppets, Short rod, long rod, body puppets, and even occasionally shadow puppets. We most frequently use rod puppets. Many people don’t know how many types of puppets there are! The list below is not conclusive, but is a great starting point if you are interested in puppetry.

Types of Puppets:

Marionette Puppets (think puppets on strings!)

Two puppeteers control marionette puppets using strings

Puppeteers Maggie (L) and Willow (R) rehearsing Peter and the Wolf (2023). They are above the puppet stage holding controllers that have strings that support the puppets and allow them to move in different ways!

Hand or Glove Puppets

Hand & Rod Puppets

Rod Puppets

Puppeteers (from L to R) Kristina, Brigid, and Penny rehearse Cinderella (2022). The puppets are above them, supported by rods to keep them upright, with additional rods for other gestures and movements!
